 Mrs .

A prefix which changed the world of many.

A status of being socially acceptable and a conversion in marital status.

Mrs.with Sanya Malhotra is an excellent depiction which may not resonate with women who always grew up and lived in the metros.


The bottomline however is true,no one can stand up for you ,one has to do it for oneself.

Drawing lines of respect, tolerance and acceptance at different phases of life which holds true irrespective of gender.


Male chauvinism, misogyny all have their own existence in the society .One need not count all men as part of this basket. History and existing times have examples of men who have been respectful of women and supported them with all their sincere efforts.


Watching Mrs.with it's well directed examples and symbolic comparisons makes one reflect,


What struck me more ,

Education doesn't always bring in wisdom. People take the support of existing systems for their own benefit.

By and large society still has unreasonable expectations from women,yes..we are seeing a change but it's still low and slow.


What struck me even more

The mother-in-law has been shown to be a PhD,she suffered in silence but she didn't stand up or allow modification for the daughter in law.

When she raised her kids her attempt to make them respect another appeared as failed 


The sister in law knew that she has a father who has rigid expectations about cooking etc.but she never raised a voice of support or attempted to change the situation.She could have been a great confidant.

The mother who should have stood by her never offered her a hand of support.Even if she agreed that her daughter needs support,the society would have blamed her for not asking the daughter to adjust.

She gave in to pressure of Log kya kahenge or she simply never felt that her daughter needed help.

There was a maid who knew that the bahu is right but she has no voice . Experience is the best teacher,what is not taught in schools life teaches oneself.


What struck me most..

The husband and father in law both are doctors.

So education and experience and empathy,all.was supposed to exist but all in vain.

Had this Mrs.been a doctor herself,she would be struggling even more..

Managing home,work stress and her inner calling to excel or perform well in her profession,social pressures to conceive,social pressures to maintain a reputation of making people always feel things are right , financial expectations from family and self and so many more


Domestic violence is not unreal.

But not everyone can walk out or even speak out.


Kids,EMI ,social obligations, financial insecurity and so many bonds that medical women doctors face that are unique to them

What makes them more unique is the cultural backgrounds that India has..


What makes it most unique is that so many women face the same issues but we haven't made enough collective effort to improve the same.

Many people may call this feminism but this is a struggle of being treated and respected as a

 human in a gender neutral society.

Walking into the second innings @ menopause THE RULE OF SIX TO HELP YOU FIX Every woman is different, issues that matter to her are different ,the outlook is different. Some come in with a list.
